Y. Burak Dolu attended a panel on ”What Is Architecture For?/How Else Can It Be Done?”
organized by The Istanbul Association of Architects in Private Practice (IstanbulSMD).
The “How Else Can It Be Done?” segment of the conference highlighted stories of
projects in Turkey that utilized non-conventional construction systems or methods,
diverging from the traditional reinforced concrete approach, which are often
overlooked due to factors like cost, culture, and politics. During this session, Y. Burak
Dolu presented the Seddülbahir Fortress project, focusing on its unique material usage
and construction process.
The conference was held at Sofitel Istanbul Taksim on February 21st.
