The Restoration Process of Seddülbahir Fortress Was Presented at the Conservation and Restoration Seminar.
A presentation titled “Seddülbahir Fortress Restoration Practices from 2018 to 2023” was delivered by Dr. Gülsün Tanyeli, Senior Architect Y. Burak Dolu, Senior Architect Arzu Özsavaşçı, and Civil Engineer Rabia Şengün during the Conservation and Restoration Seminar organized for the third time by the Chamber of Architects (TMMOB) Bursa Branch, with the support of Mudanya Municipality. The session provided comprehensive insights into the meticulous restoration process of the Seddülbahir Fortress, carried out over several years.
In his presentation, Dolu emphasized both the scientific approaches and the challenges encountered during implementation, underlining the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and site-specific solutions in preserving cultural heritage. He noted that the restoration process was conducted with respect for the historical context and with a high level of technical competence. Through the Seddülbahir example, participants were once again reminded that conservation and restoration are not only technical endeavors but also cultural responsibilities.
