The first-prize-winning project designed by KOOP Architects for the Halil Kaya Grave in the “Istanbul’s Graves Design Competition” organized by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality was published in Natura Magazine.

KOOP Architects won first prize in the “Istanbul’s Graves Design Competition,” organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Cultural Assets and the Istanbul Planning Agency. The award-winning design for Halil Kaya’s Grave was featured in the 52nd issue of Natura Magazine.
The design stands out for its use of natural stone and symbolic architectural language. The KOOP Architects team crafted the grave using white Marmara marble, complemented by bird motifs soaring from the ground to the headstone. This detail adds a sense of movement and meaning, enhancing the symbolic depth of the design.
The competition highlights the importance of reimagining cemeteries through thoughtful design while preserving cultural values. KOOP Architects’ award-winning project serves as a remarkable example of how memorial spaces can be reinterpreted through architecture.
