The award ceremony for the Konya Alaeddin Hill competition, in which we received the second prize, took place in Konya.

The Alaeddin Hill Architectural Competition, organized by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, aimed to reinterpret the historical, cultural, and archaeological values of the area within an urban context. Koop Architects was awarded 2nd place in this prestigious competition.
In the two-stage competition, which saw the participation of 47 teams, the first stage focused on the spatial continuity and conservation strategies of the II. Kılıçarslan Pavilion, Inner Castle Walls, and Excavation Area. The second stage required the development and detailing of architectural and landscape design decisions for these areas.
Jury President Cafer Bozkurt emphasized that the competition was not solely about preserving monumental ruins but rather about adopting a holistic design approach encompassing Alaeddin Hill and its tumulus. Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay stated that this competition represents a significant step in reviving Konya’s historical identity as part of the Darü’l-Mülk Project.
