Seddülbahir Fortress Wins Prestigious Award at Dezeen Awards 2024 Ceremony in the UK.
One of the world’s most prestigious architecture and design awards, Dezeen Awards 2024, has announced its winners in a spectacular ceremony. Held in London, the event brought together leading figures from the architecture world, finalist projects, and jury members. Among this year’s winners was one of Turkey’s most significant cultural heritage projects: the restoration of Seddülbahir Fortress.
Originally built in 1656 during the Ottoman era, Seddülbahir Fortress suffered extensive damage during the Gallipoli Campaign and had fallen into disrepair over time. Thanks to meticulously executed restoration efforts, the project was awarded first place in the “Heritage Project” category. Competing against 15 finalist projects from Australia, China, Malaysia, Belgium, the UK, and Scotland, Seddülbahir Fortress stood out as a remarkable international success.
The awards ceremony in London brought together some of the most influential names in architecture and design. Throughout the night, winners were announced across various categories, and the jury recognized the restoration of Seddülbahir Fortress for its outstanding achievement in preserving cultural heritage.
