Seddülbahir Fortress has won Dezeen Awards 2024 heritage project of the year.

Seddülbahir Fortress has won the Dezeen Awards 2024 in the “Heritage Project” category. Organized by Dezeen, one of the world’s most popular design magazines, these prestigious awards recognize the best in architecture and design. Each year, awards are presented in various categories, with the process beginning with the announcement of a shortlist, followed by the selection of the winners.
The restoration project of Seddülbahir Fortress surpassed 15 competing projects from countries such as Australia, China, Malaysia, Belgium, England, and Scotland, securing first place in the “Heritage Project” category.
Built in 1656 during the Ottoman era, Seddülbahir Fortress suffered severe damage during the Gallipoli Campaign and fell into ruin over time. In 2015, the Çanakkale Gallipoli Historical Site Directorate initiated restoration efforts, which were completed on March 18, 2023, reopening the fortress to visitors.
Dezeen Awards recognize excellence in architecture, interior design, product design, and sustainability, selecting outstanding projects from numerous applicants each year.
