Yalova Industrial History Museum
The Industrial History Museum, planned to be constructed within the Yalova Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ), aims to elevate the function of the area on a national, regional, and international scale. Conceptualized as one of the first examples in Turkey from a managerial and conceptual perspective and structured according to the new museology approach, the museum seeks to change the perception of OIZs as entities that deplete urban resources.
The museum is designed with a visitor-centered approach, incorporating various exhibition tools and events for local and international visitors, students, researchers, and industrialists.
According to contemporary museology, the Industrial History Museum is planned as a living industrial museum, combining different functions within its architectural program.
The Industrial History Museum comprises five main themes. The story, beginning with a historical perspective, narrates the technical Westernization activities that started with the Ottoman Empire’s opening to the West before the Republic era, the technological advancements following the establishment of the Republic in 1923, the industrial investments made up to the present day, and how these have influenced our daily lives.
These processes of change and development are conveyed in parallel with their impact on social structures, intellectual and artistic movements, and the technical and technological evolution of industrial history.
